About us
We're a partnership between Solent Mind and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
We support people to improve their mental wellbeing through education, guided self-help tools and evidence-based talking therapies.
We work alongside GPs to support people to recover from mental health problems, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviour (OCD)
- Specific phobias
Our NHS Service provides free and confidential support to people aged 16 years and over.
We offer a range of services from classes supporting your everyday wellbeing to structured therapies treating mental health issues.
Our support can be accessed in a variety of ways, including one-to-one, in a group, over the phone, via video call or online. Our appointments are held 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 4.30pm on Fridays.
Support we offer
Our practitioners deliver a range of evidence-based treatments, tailored to the individual patient and your goals for recovery. These include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
- Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)
- Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC)
- Couples Therapy for Depression
- Compassion Based Therapy
- Transdiagnostic Group
- Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Counselling for Depression
Your treatment might be 1-1, in a group, or a combination of both depending on what's likely to work best for you. All treatments are currently held via telephone or video appointments.
Our therapies are usually held at the same time each week. Talking Therapies provides short-term support and the number of appointments varies according to your treatment.
We can also provide guided self-help to help you make the changes you're looking for in your life. One of the first things we'll do is help you set some goals. Then, we'll give you the tools you can use towards achieving them.

Our telephone guided self-help approach aims to empower you to make the changes you're looking for in your life. One of the first things we'll do is help you set some goals. Then, we'll give you the tools you can use towards achieving them.
You'll learn to recognise your different patterns and styles of thinking, and how to challenge the ones that aren't helpful. You'll also discover new ways to tackle problems, and ways to manage your worries about the things you can't solve.
If you feel this option could be helpful for you, choose the telephone assessment option when you self-refer to our service. You can book your assessment online after submitting your referral form.
Your assessment is a chat with one of our practitioners, where we'll ask questions about your symptoms. Then, we'll recommend the most suitable next step for you. This may be guided self-help, another of our treatment options, or we may suggest support from another trusted service.
